What is a myth or legend?

• A legend is a story that’s based on something that happened that is true but it was has been over exaggerated.
• A myth is a story that is probably really untrue but it is important to the culture that it comes from.
• They are stories from the past.
• Most myths tell us how something was created for example:  How Maungarei came to be or How the Heilala flower came to be.
• They can take place anywhere - from lots of different countries.
• Anyone or anything can be a character in a myth.  There are even magical creatures sometimes.

Today we are going to read a Tongan myth about a cluster (group of stars) and how they came to be.  A group of stars that is famous, is called a constellation.  Two examples are:

• The Southern Cross

Sometimes Dads have to make hard choices for their children.	Ma’afu is a man that loves his son’s. Ma’afu is a very kind man. Ma’afu is a handsome chief.

Tevita's Atheletics Description

Athletics day 2015 i saw parents cheering at kids running

fast . I saw rainbows of  colors cheering on the sideline

I saw people running as fast as usain bolt.I saw miss kyla start a dance party on the field as the music blared from the speaker.

I Heard Benghazi shouting loud to us like a all blacks game cheering when they get a try. I heard the miss kyla calling up the year levels to start there smooth race. I heard the air whip across my face like flash.

I could taste the burnt sausage as i took a bite.I could tastes the sausage sizzle when people walked behind me.I could taste the  butterflies in my stomach as i was getting to race.

I felt nervous when miss aireen smashed the starting blocks

together.I felt very excited when i came 3thrd.I felt as hot as lava.I felt very tired that we had to run 100m. And i felt very smooth grass feeling my legs.

I could smell the fresh coming through my nose.I could smell the  delicious  food that families came with for their children. I could smell the perfume from mrs kelly when she lifted her arm up.

Mai FM morning crew meets TPS

Today, We had a duffy role model assembly. Our role models were Nate and Lily from the Mai fm 

morning show.

Two key messages I learned 

were reading and travelling helps you 

to learn about other cultures  and places and 

reading can help you to think of and find 

a dream.

I admired the way that Lily said I work hard and keep read books while I grow older.

Adam with room 9

Today we had Adam from Sommerville come and join us for Art! We were making shark art, after reading "The Great White Man-Eating Shark" by Margaret Mahy. Adam really enjoyed doing Art with us. He was going to stay for five minutes but he ended up staying for half an hour!

We loved having Adam with us. He is now part of or Room 9 family.

T	First On the 17th of august in a bright shiny sunny In the middle block of school the whole kia maia went to the hall so then we had a peaceful play in the hall with rm 7,8,9.s I felt very nervous that we were about to have assembly but suddenly Mr minton said that we are going to play a sport
R	Then Mr Minton said we are going to play gang ganga mo so then we played it different. I felt very bored that it took for long to explained then i felt very excited because it look very beast for me.
E	Finally we had to put our chair back and then we played a relay game. It was very brilliant and funny that me and Kenneth came last. And we came second to last at racing with the balloon.I felt very excited by trying winning.
	After that we all got chocolates and then we all had to sit in the mat and then Mr Minton said that we were brilliant yesterday I felt very surprised he said that.                                                 THE END

I walk home slowly after a long day at school.  The sun is shining down on me.  I can hear my mum saying “Malo, Pesita!  Fefe hake?”  I nod my head and smile, showing her that my day was good.

I get into the fale and I put down my school bag.  Then I go and clean the nice fresh smell of the dishes then I go out side and get some nice yummy sweet sugar cane then I go and put the sugar cane inside then I go get some fresh cold water.

Then I go and get some nice juicy niu then crack the big outside skin then I opened the niu and eat it, it was very nice.

Then I went and got some itchy sticks from the dark scary woods. Then I went and did the cooking I made some cary and rice the cary was very chilly that my face went red so I ate my mom's rice finish then I ate my own rice and then my face was cooling down.

First they felt happy and calmly they were starting to be kind to each other when they start to race Smoothly so then after a Man called Israel Folau the very strongly man was coming last so then he was just calmly and find and then he got rid of Richard Kahui the mostly boy that does some big hits  . So he ran past Richard Kahui  then the Boy that was coming first name George Moala nearly made it but then...

Israel Folau ran as fast as a cheetah up to George Moala. Then he came first. When he came first he done the catholic church sign high and said ‘YEAH. And the others were very sad. george moala said said in a deep voice to Israel folau that came first ‘It is alright least we nearly came atie. Israel Folau that came first said on a big voice to the very handsome man named George Moala ‘Yes nice try.

So they had prize giving and Israel Folau won and then Israel Folau was as brainy as a monkey that he gave George Moala the choufi and he just got the medal like as a choufi so then Israel Folau had a beautiful friendship  girlfriend.

First we went to the dots and sat there with our house then we did not know what was happening so then Miss Kyla told us what was happening so it was a whole Boot Camp. I felt Happy and Excited.

Then we headed to the concretes outside of the hall. And we got put in groups and it was kind of boring because we sat on the sun.

Finally we got up and done lots of exercise with miss irene and other teachers it was very fun then I felt bored.  After that we had Miss Kyla last and we just done burbes so then we heard Miss Judy is group Doing 100 Squats i felt tired.
